Risky endeavour

Now I'm studying for BPM, business processes coordination's discipline.
well, and the point I'm going through today is risky projects. In general, every project can de defined as an endeavour ("extraordinary" (c)Wischnewsky)that generates risks concerning time, quality and of course, costs.
In order not to bore you I'm going to invoke one saying from my script.
"When the outcome of the risky endeavour can be different from plan, this doesn't necessarily mean that outcome is worse than planned". Isn't it wise? or at least can be used to calm people in a case when wished doesn't come true. Every outcome is still one outcome.
